If you are a new family, we are glad you are here!
The very first step is to read our Statement of Faith on the "About" page.
Classes meet on Tuesdays from 9:30am - 12:10 pm.
We meet for two semesters per year: in the fall from August through November and in the spring from January through April.
Classes are offered based on what members are willing to teach. Classes tend to be a mix of academics and electives.
Families must have at least one child, 5 years old or older by September 1 in order to enroll.
Parents play a vital and necessary role in the operation of each class day so children may not be dropped off. All parents are required to stay on the premises for the duration of co-op.
We require parent or guardian from each family to commit to helping in our classrooms. There are lots of positions available and we can always use your help. Whether you feel comfortable in a teaching role or in a helping role, it is important that we all do our part by signing up to volunteer in at least two classes. Each parent will serve in positions such as a teacher, teacher’s helper, nursery worker or hall monitor. Everyone serves two periods then floats one period. Floaters fill in for people who are absent. If a floater is not needed, then they will have a free period. Parents with a free period are welcome to enjoy the Chew -n- Chat lounge. We highly recommend that families participate for one year before taking on a teaching role.
A nursery is available for infants, however, families must have at least one child, 5 years or older by September 1 in order to participate.
The membership fee for a family to enroll is $100.00 per school year. This fee covers our curriculum, website expenses, office supplies such as copies, storage fees, Back to School bash and other miscellaneous expenses. Some classes such as cooking or art may have an additional supply fee for any out of the normal supplies.
There is an additional fee for a background check of $25.
All volunteers 18 years and older are required to have a background check performed prior to the start of their first semester. We will provide a link for families to complete.
Background checks will be performed every 5 years.
For the safety of our families, we believe it is important that anyone serving in a volunteer or teaching position age 18 years and older will need to complete a background check prior to joining the NGHA family. Background checks for new members will be run prior to the the selection of classes.
The student council is comprised of 9th-12th grade student members.
Field Day is a special event at the end of the spring semester all our families gather at a park to “compete” in various games, races and activities. It is a great time for our families.
The 2024-2025 school year waiting list is now open! Please follow the instructions on the home page for further details on how to be considered.
In order to be considered, new families must fill out a New Family Application form and sign NGHA's Statement of Faith. Forms can be found under the "Forms" tab. Upon completion, please email forms to nextgenhomeschoolcoop@gmail.com, with the subject line reading “Waitlist Application”. Please note filling out application does not guarantee a spot. Thanks for your interest in NGHA Co-op!
We start surveying our existing members about class ideas during the spring semester. After gathering all necessary information, a schedule is created and a registration date is set exclusively for our existing members. Our goal is to begin this process mid-April.
Once all our existing members have registered their families for the next school year, our team will reach out to new families on the waitlist to advise whether or not we have a spot available. Please note we will not reach out until the end of May, early June.
Our local homeschool community is constantly growing. Here are a couple of great groups you might want to consider connecting with:
